Having to work at 8:30 AM the day following a concert SUCKS. First, I would like to thank the jackass who did his best to wreck the second half of Creed's set for me. More on Jackass Guy later. Second, if anyone here drives a white Ford Expedition and was at the show, HI! I have a Creed bumper sticker on the back of my car. About half an hour from GR, this Ford starts passing me, and then slows down. Then they pull up even with us, and the girl in the passenger side is holding a couple of tickets up against the window and mouths the words "Are you going??!?!" before finally passing us and disappearing into the distance. (I don't have a very fast car, and it wasn't happy with the idea of driving 90 miles all in a row). We caught up with them again in Grand Rapids, and followed them to a parking garage, since we had no idea where to go to park. To thank them for their assistance, Scott gave them a 12 Stones CD and sticker after the show. Now, on to the actual concert... I'd never heard anything by Virgos before. They weren't bad, but they didn't strike me as "spectacular" or anything. The type of music where, if I heard it on the radio, I probably wouldn't be in a huge rush to change the station, but I also wouldn't stay in the car until the song ended if I got to where I was going first. I've heard two of Tantric's songs on the radio before, though I didn't know who the band was, and I liked them both. I was pretty impressed by the performance - the lead singer (Hugo?) has a really interesting voice, imo. Not to mention, his jumping off the catwalk is what caused the shoving that got Scott and I pushed to the front. (We started out about three rows back). I'll probably end up getting their CD eventually. Creed, of course, were great. This was the third time I'd seen them... I didn't like the stage setup as well as the first time I saw them. There were catwalks off both sides and right down the center, so it was harder to pick a good place. (Last time I was GA, my sister and I were pretty much front and center. This time, front and center was occupied by the catwalk). Scott had this screeching little Higher chick standing beside him. Although, she doesn't even really rate as a higher chick, since she was screeching the loudest for Tantric. Scott finally let her through to the front just because he couldn't stand her shrieking in his ear anymore. "It's my birthday, so I can do anything I want to! It's my birthday, so I should get to be in the front". . So she ended up standing right beside me, and every time Stapp walked in our direction, she'd start shrieking and waving her arms at him, and her shrieking was loud enough that it actually overpowered the music. THEN Jackass Guy, who stood about 6'6, decided that he should have my spot, and proceeded to push his entire weight against me hard enough that I literally couldn't breathe - there wasn't enough space between me and the person he was pushing me against for me to take a breath. By the time he eased up, I was shaking and so dizzy that I missed the next couple of songs trying to recover. The entire rest of the show I had to keep an eye on him, because he kept backing up into me, and jumping up and down, and generally being an inconsiderate Jackass. I know that a lot of pushing and shoving happens in GA, but this was beyond the norm, I think. Everyone else in our little group on the rail was really nice (excluding shrieking girl, and she wasn't mean, just really annoying). People were making room for other people, and checking to make sure the people behind them could see, sharing cell phones and water, etc. Even when I tried to shove Jackass Guy away from me, he just kept coming back - and I shoved him hard enough that he must have felt it. Scott spent the rest of the show pushing the guy away. We did meet a really nice couple - I think they were from Ohio. Never even caught their names, but we kept running into each other, starting while we were waiting to get into the venue, and they wound up standing right behind us during the show. And speaking of the show... well, the set list was pretty much the same as what everyone else has experienced (opening with Bullets, ending with My Sacrifice). I didn't like Bullets the first several times I heard it, but it's grown on me as time has gone by, and I really liked hearing it live. I was futilely hoping for Ode, which didn't happen, so my favorite song from the performance was "What If" - the crowd's energy was absolutely amazing. "Don't Stop Dancing" sounded a little odd without the female vocals - after hearing it so often at home, it felt like something was missing when that part of the song came and it was just Scott. I was about ready to jump over the rail and supply the missing vocals myself. ;) As Scott already mentioned, Brett did most of the backing vocals, but Mark did cover his own part in MOP. I'm still surprised that they didn't postpone or cancel all their shows for a week or two - must be awfully rough on Mark. Anyway, since I have to be up in 5 hours to go to work again (groan), and this 'review' has become hideously long, I think it's time to close. I'll just reiterate that Creed puts on an incredible live show, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them again Monday, although it'll be from a safer perspective. I'm also hoping that Scott and I will get the chance to meet up with some of the other people going to the Detroit show following the concert... anyone have an idea on a local restaurant that'll be open around that time of night? And no, this really isn't a test to see who actually read this far down... ;) Tara ----- Original Message ----- From: ]\[][G}{T§TÖ®]v[ (unless Tara decides to gather the ambition to write one before I do...
